Swan Lake VICTORIAN STATE BALLET

Victorian State Ballet proudly presents its spectacular production of Swan Lake, bringing one of the greatest masterpieces of classical ballet to the magnificent State Theatre Sydney.

Set to Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score, Swan Lake is a breathtaking story of love, deception and destiny. From the haunting beauty of the lakeside scenes to the dazzling spectacle of the royal ballroom, this celebrated production captures everything audiences love about classical ballet.

Prince Siegfried encounters the beautiful Odette, a princess transformed into a swan by the evil sorcerer Rothbart. Their love offers the possibility of breaking the curse — but deception arrives in the form of the seductive Black Swan, Odile, leading the lovers towards a dramatic and unforgettable conclusion.

Victorian State Ballet’s production honours the great classical tradition while bringing its own distinctive theatrical vision to the stage. Re-staged by Michelle Sierra, the production preserves the celebrated Petipa choreography of the iconic White Acts, complemented by Sierra’s original choreography for Acts I and III.

Audiences will experience some of the most famous moments in all of ballet:

• The exquisite White Swan Pas de Deux.
• The electrifying Black Swan Grand Pas de Deux.
• Odile’s legendary 32 fouettés.
• The enchanting Dance of the Four Cygnets.
• The breathtaking corps de ballet of the Kingdom of the Swans.

Rich costumes, spectacular scenery, dramatic lighting and the grandeur of Tchaikovsky’s music combine with classical technique and powerful storytelling to create an unforgettable theatrical experience.
