That alone feels both joyful and a little sad.
The sad part is : over the past couple of years, I’ve been getting hurt in all kinds of ways—physically and mentally. In this special, I talk about my knee injury, my ear injury, my moments of social death, my bipolar disorder… all of it.
The joyful part is: among my seven specials, this was the fastest one to complete, and the one with the most consistent tone.
I’ve changed a lot in recent years. The biggest change is probably that I’ve been posting jokes online nonstop. Anything I felt didn’t belong in a special, I just uploaded. So even though I have seven full specials, there are still one to two hours of material online that aren’t included in any of them. The root cause, I think, is my own inner struggle—and a stubborn unwillingness to let go.
This is also why I originally wanted to call the show “Mind & Body, Super Thick-Skinned.” The idea was: even when the body and the mind are worn down, the spirit stays tough. That has always been the core of my stand-up. After all, who isn’t toughened by pain, just to face even more pain in life? But eventually I changed the title to “Exhausted Physically and Mentally. “Because for some reason, “Mind & Body, Super Thick-Skinned” looked oddly like the title of a horror film.
When I first started doing stand-up, I had no idea what having seven specials would feel like.
Looking back, maybe that’s a good thing. If I had known that even after seven specials I’d still end up like this, I probably would’ve burned out long ago. Fortunately, at least for now, I’m just… exhausted.

刘旸教主 –《身心俱疲》
《身心俱疲》是我第一个根据主题写出来的专场。
这件事又喜又悲。悲的是这一两年我一直在各种受伤，肉体上心灵上都是。专场里讲了我的膝盖受伤、耳朵受伤、社会性死亡、双相情感障碍……
喜的是，这是我的七个专场里最快写完，段子风格最一致的专场。
这几年我的变化很大，最大的一个变化就是我在网上一直传段子。所有我认为不应该放进专场的段子全都传了，这就导致我虽然有七个专场，但网上其实有一两个小时的内容不在任何专场里。这背后的根本原因可能是我心中的挣扎和不甘。
这也是为什么这个专场一开始想叫《身心巨皮》。意思是肉体和心灵虽然饱受伤害，但精神仍然很皮实。这也是我一直以来做单口喜剧的内核。谁不是在伤痛中变得皮实，来面对人生更多的伤痛。改为《身心俱疲》的原因很简单，「身心巨皮」这四个字，不知道为什么，看着像是个恐怖片。
入行时我并不知道，有七个专场会是什么样子。 现在想想，幸亏不知道。要是知道了即使有七个专场还是这个样子，怕是早就颓了。现在还好，疲了而已。
