An Evening with John Butler

SYNOPSIS

After a series of border closures, last minute postponements and unavoidable delays, Australia’s highest selling independent artist of all time, John Butler, has officially announced the details of his forthcoming national tour this May.

While February and March saw the multi-ARIA award winner playing alongside The Teskey Brothers, Cat Empire, Boy and Bear and Montaigne in a huge celebration of roots, folk and latin sounds as part of the Summersalt Festival through many regional areas, the new national tour will focus on beautiful city theatres for a more intimate  setting.

I’m REALLY REALLY looking forward to this tour. It’s been a wacky ol’ year for all of us in so many ways and to be able to go out and play music for the community AND myself feels like a bit of good healing. Said John ButlerWhen I take a look around the world and see how hard some folks are doing it at the moment this feels like a huge privilege.”

John will start in the Newcastle Civic Theatre, a long term favourite followed by his first ever appearance at the incredible State Theatre in Sydney. This will go some way to make up for the Covid affected cancellation of Summersalt Festival in Bella Vista. He will then wing it to Queensland where he will perform for the first-time in Brisbane’s hallowed concert hall at QPAC.

On to Cairns for the first of three rescheduled shows. This will now be an outdoor concert at the stunning Munro Martin Parklands. Mid week shows will feature concerts at Gladstone Entertainment Centre, Bundaberg’s Moncrieff Entertainment Centre and Rockhampton’s favourite Pilbeam Theatre, followed by the last of the rescheduled shows at The Empire Theatre, Toowoomba.

The East coast tour will conclude at one of John’s favourite venues, The Palais Theatre in St Kilda, Melbourne, with plans afoot to film the evening for a later global broadcast for John’s international audience.

Back to WA for a run of shows including Geraldton, Mandurah, Albany, Esperance and Kalgoorlie concluding with a final tour date for 2021 in the Perth Concert hall.

In this brand new live show, John will be sharing stories from the road and from his heart and playing songs from his vast catalogue which spans almost a quarter of a century!
